We are a family owned (woman owned/Gwynne, veteran owned/John) business. It is a full family affair where our kids pitch in too. Our oldest daughter orders the supplies for all the listings and our son is responsible for handling trash at our local listings. Our kids have helped assemble furniture, install cabinet hardware or helped with a deep clean after a reno. It won’t be long before our youngest two kids claim a regular job as well in the family business.
Gwynne is a born and bred girl from Gastonia, NC, who graduated from UNC Chapel Hill. After working a pharmaceutical sales job and watching too many HGTV shows in doctors’ waiting rooms, having kid #2 led Gwynne to leave her job to stay home with the kids. Gwynne and John had been investing in long term rental real estate but with time to haul kids to Lowes or to rentals, Gwynne decided to start handling the renovations as owner contractor and loved the renovation process. On one rental house – the Belmont Bungalow – Gwynne and John took a leap of faith to try this thing called Airbnb. They furnished the house and before Gwynne knew it, she was hooked. Hosting, sharing places to stay, restaurants to eat and taking care of guests. In the South, hospitality is cherished and valued. It’s not always about perfection, but opening your home in warmth. And that is what Gwynne tries to do consistently with houses renovated to perform for guests, and opened in warmth to host them.

John grew up in Greenville, SC and graduated from Clemson University.  After graduating from Clemson, impacted by 9/11, he decided to enlist in the US Army and served as an Army Ranger Captain. He served in Iraq and then in the Army National Guard. After his time in the Army, he went back to the civilian world as an industrial commercial broker and then as an industrial packaging sales specialist. In Fall of 2023, John left the sales world to join Gwynne officially full time in focusing on what has always been our favorite joint venture – My Carolina Stay. A combination of renovating houses and hosting guests – it’s what they love to do and are so thankful to share it with every guest that books.
John and Gwynne now have 4 kids (2 girls and 2 boys)… and when you book with us, you are supporting a family business. It is our business to make sure your stay is great. It is our business to make sure you are comfortable. It is our business to tell you the best places around town. And it is our business to make your travel as easy as possible.  Â
